Antigua VC Bird International Airport (ANU)
Airport Information

(St. Johns, Antigua and Barbuda)

Situated 8 km / 5 miles north-east of the Antiguan capital of St. Johns, Antigua VC Bird International Airport (ANU) is the only airport located on the island of Antigua. Located to the south-east of Barnes Hill, Boons Bay and Cedar Grove, VC Bird Airport operates as the main gateway to Barbuda and is an important hub for LIAT airlines (Leeward Islands Air Transport).

This busy airport houses both domestic and international carriers in a single terminal and serves passengers to destinations in North America and Europe, with the greatest influx of flights coming in from the US. Currently, the Antigua and Barbuda Millennium Airport organisation are planning improvements, to ensure that the VC Bird Airport has a healthy and prosperous future, and continues to maintain its high standards.

Driving from the airport to St. Johns' city centre takes only ten minutes and can be accomplished via the Old Parham Road or the Antigua Sugar Factory Road. Most prominent hotels can arrange shuttle buses to transport clients from the airport to their hotel, and taxis operate on fixed fares to many local destinations. In some cases, helicopters can be chartered in order to explore neighbouring islands in the Caribbean.

About St. Johns Tourism

Antigua is a small island in the midst of the Caribbean Sea, within the West Indies. Antigua's capital city of St. Johns is known for more than its many beaches and West Indian allure. St. Johns has also acquired an added reputation for duty-free shopping. The English Harbour boasts some historical significance and the area around St. Johns contains many specimens of British colonial architecture, such as the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, housed in the historic Court House.

Close to Antigua VC Bird Airport (ANU), the skyline of St. Johns is particularly impressive and is somewhat dominated the city's beautiful cathedral, which dates back some 150 years and features Baroque-style towers.
